Zac Cavender has no use for the judges’ scorecards.
The heavy-handed Las Vegas fighter needed just 53 seconds to earn Knockout-of-the-Night honors in his BKFC debut at BKFC 65 in September. All of Cavender’s five victories as a professional MMA fighter have come by stoppage.
“That’s one of my philosophies as a fighter — the fight doesn’t go to a decision. Even if it involves me taking more risks when I’m up rounds, then that’s what I’m going to do. That’s what the people want, so that’s what I’m going to do,” Cavender says.
“A win doesn’t get handed to you by a judge. Real victory comes with a finish, and that’s exactly what I intend to do. That’s how I fight. It’s fast-paced, it’s dirty, and it just gets worse for my opponent as the fight goes on because I’m always pushing for that finish.”
Cavender, 30, returns to action on Saturday at BKFC 74, LIVE worldwide on DAZN from the legendary Maverik Center in Salt Lake City, UT. He meets Erick Lozano, who will be entering the BKFC Squared Circle for the sixth time.
Cavender’s expectations for fight night should be pretty obvious at this point. He wants to add another finish to his highlight reel and move a big step closer to the BKFC World Cruiserweight Championship.
“When I do something, I try to be the best at it. Fighting is my passion. I may not be the best, but I’m pushing myself to be the best that I can possibly be. I have high expectations for myself,” he says.
“I see myself holding the belt, or multiple belts, with BKFC.”
