“Royal” Ryan Reber returned to the win column in the Co-Main Event of BKFC Fight Night Clearwater.
Competing at the sold-out OCC Road House & Museum in his adopted hometown of Clearwater, FL, Reber upped his BKFC record to 7-1 on Friday with a majority decision over the previously unbeaten Matt Guymon.
“That was the most important victory of my career,” says Reber, who entered fight night as the No. 4 contender in the stacked BKFC bantamweight division.
“Losing that fight would have sent me way back down the rankings. Instead, I was able to showcase my toughness and skills against an undefeated opponent — a really game opponent — and prove that I deserve the next crack at the BKFC World Bantamweight Championship.”
The undefeated Alberto Blas currently holds the crown at 135 pounds. He’s also the only fighter to defeat Reber in the BKFC Squared Circle.
Reber sees a potential rematch with Blas going much differently than their first encounter in the Main Event of BKFC 66 in September. He’s working tirelessly for another opportunity to fight for the BKFC World Bantamweight Title.
“Some people fight for the money, but I fight for my legacy. That’s it,” he says.
“Being the best fighter in the world is what I started on this journey for, so that’s the mission that I’m going to fulfill.”
