Zac Cavender is a fighter on the move.
The fleet-footed cruiserweight contender boasts out-of-this-world speed and footwork for his 6-foot-5, 205-pound frame.
On Saturday — to the delight of BKFC Commentators Sean Wheelock and Chris Lytle — Cavender knocked out the battle-tested Erick Lozano while retreating backwards in their 63-second showdown at BKFC 74 at the sold-out Maverik Center in Salt Lake City, UT.
“I practice punching while moving a lot. I’m a really tall guy and I’ve got a really long reach. Most guys my size don’t have the ability to move like I can. I really pride myself and work hard on my mobility and my athleticism,” the unbeaten Las Vegas product says.
“Being able to move quickly as a big, powerful guy enables me to have serious knockout power and accuracy, regardless of if I’m moving forwards, backwards or side to side.”
After back-to-back, first-round finishes, the 30-year-old Cavender is also rapidly moving up the rankings in the stacked BKFC cruiserweight division.
“My transition from MMA into bare knuckle fighting has been easy and very fluid for me,” he says. “I love the fighting style that you need to succeed with BKFC. That’s the kind of fight that I love.”
Cavender is keen on a quick turnaround.
“I’m 2-0 with BKFC, so I’m in a really versatile spot,” he says.
“I’d be happy to fight up against a more established opponent. On the other hand, I’m still early in my career, so fighting guys who also still just have a fight or two under their belt is an option to build experience.
“Right now, I’m just looking to getting more fights under my belt, getting more knockouts, and getting closer to the BKFC belt.”
