Elvin Brito hungrier than ever heading into BKFC 26 title defense Friday

June 23, 2022

The BKFC Welterweight Championship belt is much more than just a trophy or accessory for the champ Elvin Brito.

“When I got that belt, it was a new chapter for me – the beginning of my life as a true champion,” Brito says. “That belt is a realization of how far I’ve come, and how hard I’ve worked over the past two decades.”

With the belt came more attention from fans, media, sponsors and other fighters. When Brito brought the belt home, he began laying a stronger foundation for his career and life moving forward.

Striking gold has left some fighters more complacent and less ambitious in the past. Brito is not one of those fighters.

“It actually made me a lot hungrier,” Brito says. “As much as that belt represents how far I’ve come, it also represents how far I can go, and I’m just getting started.”

Of course, Brito isn’t ready to give his belt up. His next challenge comes Friday in the form of Luis Palomino when they meet in the Main Event of BKFC 26 in Hollywood, FL, LIVE on the BKFC app.

Palomino is undefeated in his six BKFC fights, and is the No. 1-ranked Pound-for-Pound fighter in the organization. He’s defended his Lightweight Championship four times, and on Friday will try to make history as the first two-division champ in company history.

Brito seems unbothered, predicting a KO over Palomino.

“I might take his belt, just to teach him a lesson,” he says with a laugh. “I’m going to beat the (expletive) out of him.”

Tickets are still available for BKFC 26. As always, you can catch all the action on the new BKFC app.
