Doug “ColdRed” Coltrane answers when opportunity knocks.

He didn’t think twice to accept a fight with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship Middleweight Champion David “Redneck” Mundell when the call came from BKFC Matchmaker Nate Shook.

“None – not at all,” the Smithfield, NC fighter says when asked if there was any hesitation to take on such a tall task in his fighting career.

“I couldn’t say no to an opportunity like this.”

Coltrane and Mundell meet in the must-see Main Event of BKFC 53 on Nov. 3 in Orlando, LIVE on The BKFC App.

Coltrane is undefeated in his first three trips to the Squared Circle, with his two most recent wins coming by stoppage. Mundell, meanwhile, boasts a BKFC record of 7-1. He’s unbeaten in his last five and has finished his last three opponents, including former champ Francesco Ricchi to win the belt at BKFC 34 and Mike Richman in his first title defense at BKFC 47. The hard-hitting Oldsmar, FL fighter is hunting for his fourth straight stoppage against Coltrane. 

Coltrane has a ton of respect for Mundell. He knows a victory over the champ would make him an immediate superstar in the world of combat sports. Much is at stake for Coltrane, so he’s careful to keep his eyes on the prize and block out what he calls “the white noise.”

“This is a massive opportunity, but I can’t let that get to me too much,” he says. “I know this is a big fight. If I go out there and do what I know I can do, it’s really going to change my life for the better. But at the end of the day, this is just another fight. He’s a tough dude and he’s the champ, but this is just another fight.

“Let’s go.”

What would the belt mean to Coltrane?

“It would mean everything,” he says. “It would mean that I’ve solidified my name in history, and it would fulfill a lifelong dream that I’ve had since I was a kid.”
