Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, THE World’s Fastest Growing Sport, has signed former UFC Superstar Chad Mendes to a multi-fight deal, the promotion announced today.
Appearing Wednesday afternoon on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, the UFC Featherweight World Title Challenger stated, “I’m coming out of retirement to fight in BKFC. This has been in the works for over a year and I’m very excited to get in the squared circle.” Mendes stated his BKFC debut would come on October 22 in Chandler, AZ.
Said Dave Feldman, President of BKFC, “We are very excited to announce the signing of Chad Mendes. Chad is a tremendous fighter who has fought everyone in the world and who looks like he’s getting stronger and crisper as he matures. We are very much looking forward to his debut in October and very happy to have this magnificent signing announced today on ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast.”
While fighting in the UFC, Mendes was the winner of ‘Knockout of the Night’ (Clay Guida), ‘Fight of the Night’ Twice (Jose Aldo, Alexander Volkanovski), ‘Performance of the Night’ Twice (Ricardo Lamas, Myles Jury) and holds the records for the ‘Most Knockouts in Featherweight History (Six) – tied with Conor McGregor.
ESPN and MMA Junkie also awarded him 2014 Fight of the Year for his epic battle with Jose Aldo at UFC 179.
