The future of bare knuckle fighting in the United Kingdom was on full display in Liverpool, as a full slate of the region’s top prospects showcased their skills in the world-famous BKFC Squared Circle.
In the BKFC Prospect Series 2 Main Event, Jonno Chipchase of Manchsester, England dropped Anton Larsson of Umea, Sweden twice just over a minute into their highly anticipated bantamweight bout. The fight was called just 84 seconds after the opening bell, paving the way for a night of back-and-forth battles and jaw-dropping finishes.
In the BKFC Prospect Series 2 Co-Main Event, Liverpool fan-favorite Terry Needham dropped Morgan Starkey of Bradford, England twice in the opening round of their bout, and once more in the second frame, to earn the victory before his hometown crowd in featherweight action. The bout was stopped 1:25 into the second round.
Dominik Herold of Pilsen, Czech Republic defeated Manchester, England’s Zane Marks after Marks didn’t answer the bell at the beginning of the third round in their cruiserweight clash.
Bradley Taylor of Hartlepool, England knocked down Castleford, England’s Harry Cain twice en route to a one-sided unanimous decision victory in their featherweight bout. The judges’ scores weren’t read.
Marcus Pond of Plymouth, England knocked out Ryan Harris of Llandudno, Wales with a vicious right hand in their middleweight showdown. No count was necessary as the ref called an immediate end to the fight, 80 seconds into the second round.
Liverpool fan-favorite Ray Putterill earned the TKO win over New Market, England’s George Buckell in lightweight action. Putterill was announced the winner after Buckell called it quits 81 seconds into the third round of their bout.
Andy Thornton of Bolton, England knocked down hometown Liverpool fan-favorite Lee Browne three times before their cruiserweight fight was called to a stop in the second round. Time of the TKO stoppage was 1:24.
Bartek Kanabey knocked down Shaun Kissane of Chester-le-Street, England in the third round of their lightweight matchup to pave the way for a split-decision victory for the Workington, England product. The judges scored it 48-46x2, 47-48.
Birkenhead, England’s Peter Hayes needed just 49 seconds to flatten Dean Hunt of Bradford, England with a devastating right hand in the first round of their light-heavyweight showdown.
After picking himself up from the canvas earlier in the round, Marti Barnes of Ellesmere Port, England defeated Micky Pedersen of North Shields, England via TKO 1:47 into the second round of their heavyweight matchup.
