Tony “The Way” Jenkins’ doubters are getting awfully quiet.
After Jenkins’ 78-second TKO victory over Brian Maronek on Friday at BKFC 50 in Denver, the 44-year-old Baton Rouge, LA product is 3-0 under the BKFC banner. All of his wins have come by stoppage.
Jenkins feels that some have underestimated his abilities, and he’s using that as fuel to power his fighting career in the Squared Circle.
“When you have people doubting you, you want to prove them wrong, but you don’t want to get in your own way and start doubting yourself – that’s when your downfall starts,” Jenkins says.
“I use it as motivation to keep working harder, keep moving forward and keep striving for more.”
Jenkins says it’s wonderful to reach the 3-0 mark – a milestone that only a small percentage of BKFC fighters reach – but he’s just getting started. He’s unscathed from Friday’s fight and hoping for a quick turnaround in the Squared Circle.
“I could fight on next week’s card,” he says with a chuckle.
Jenkins has a simple answer when asked where he wants to be with BKFC in 2024 – ”on top.”
“Setting my mark, setting my legacy," he adds. "When I leave the game, I want people to remember me for who I am, and who I was.”
Editor’s note: Tony would like to thank God, his coach, his friends and family, particularly his niece Michelle Davenport.
