Jared Warren goes for gold, redemption at BKFC 47

A shot at redemption and a shot at gold await Jared Warren at BKFC 47 on July 14.

At the hotly anticipated event in Lakeland, FL, Warren fights Josh Dyer for a second time. This time the vacant Interim BKFC World Light-Heavyweight Championship is on the line, LIVE on The BKFC App

Warren and Dyer first did battle in 2020, when Dyer handed Warren the first loss of his BKFC career.

“It’s just business,” Warren says with a smile when asked if this Co-Main Event rematch is personal.

“I call it professional payback, because on a personal level I like Josh and think he’s a cool guy. But on a professional level, I’m trying to take his head off.”

Warren joined Shift MMA in Tampa, FL after his loss to Dyer, and he’s since won four of five with three knockouts in the Squared Circle. Warren says the 2023 version of him would wipe the canvas with the 2020 edition, and he’s ready to prove it on July 14.

“Both versions are mentally tough; I just have a lot more skills and techniques than I had back then,” he says. “I had a good kickboxing background, but I didn’t have much of a background in just throwing hands, and that’s all I’ve been working on the last three years since then.”

Warren predicts he’ll notch the fifth KO of his BKFC career against Dyer. He stops short of calling which round he’ll end it in, but he makes it clear he’s not leaving Lakeland without the belt.

Warren is counting down the hours to fight night.

“Getting the belt is a big milestone, so it definitely means a lot to me,” he says. “To get the belt, and to avenge what I feel is really my only loss, is huge.

“I can’t wait.”
