Howard “HD” Davis is a man on a mission.
The Broward County, FL product returns to the Squared Circle on Saturday at BKFC 78, LIVE worldwide on The BKFC App from the iconic Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL. He’s dialed in to turn the page on his most recent BKFC battle — a back-and-forth, decision loss to the legendary Luis Palomino in March.
“I’m very excited to remind everybody who the (expletive) ‘HD’ is,” Davis says on the eve of his lightweight showdown with the unbeaten Drako Rodriguez (2-0).
Davis feels he did enough to take out Palomino. However, Davis, who’s widely regarded as one of the most technical strikers on the BKFC roster, sees himself taking more risks this weekend.
“I’m going to let loose a little more and get back to my roots by fighting more in the pocket and get my blood boiling again ,” he says. “This sport has calmed me down so much over the years that it's changed the way I fight and I got away from my roots as a fighter.”
Davis is 7-3-1 in the Squared Circle, with all but one of his victories coming by stoppage, so “HD” certainly doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel. But he feels a few minor tweaks to his game will pay major dividends as he continues to position himself in the stacked BKFC lightweight division.
“I want to be a World Champion, and I know I can be,” he says. “My time is coming, and it will be here soon.”
