Dustin “The Disciple” Pague has his sights set on BKFC World Welterweight Champion Gorjan “GoGo” Slaveski after extending his winning streak in the Co-Main Event of BKFC 51 on Friday.
“I’m really hoping the title shot is next,” says Pague, who scored his third straight win Friday with a Unanimous Decision victory over Joe Elmore in Salem, VA.
“I’ve heard from a lot of people that I’m next in line for the title, including from (BKFC Commentator) Chris Lytle in our post-fight interview, and I hope they’re right.”
Pague is disappointed that he couldn’t finish Elmore, but his performance Friday was nevertheless outstanding. The heavy-handed Carlisle, PA product feels he’s a bad matchup for the champ Slaveski, who’s undefeated in his first six BKFC battles.
“I think ‘GoGo is pretty much the same fighter as Joe – he’s very wild, he’s not very technical at all. He just swings very hard, to the point where he’s basically falling over if he misses,” Pague says.
“I think a very similar game plan would beat ‘GoGo’ the same way I beat Joe.”
Having the BKFC World Welterweight Championship belt around his waist would mean the world to Pague.
“That’s all I think about,” the UFC vet says with a chuckle.
“I just love fighting, and I love BKFC more than anything I’ve done as an athlete. I’ve said it before that I would’ve taken the bare knuckle fighting path instead of MMA if I had that option earlier in my career. There’s nothing more badass than two guys slugging it out bare knuckle, you know?”
