Canadian Jade Masson-Wong stole the show at BKFC 43

May 25, 2023

Jade Masson-Wong stole the show at BKFC 43.

First she went viral for her headline-grabbing, weigh-in outfit, then she turned heads the next night with her impressive victory over Taylor Starling.

“For the weigh-ins, yes, it was my goal to put attention on us,” the fast-rising French Canadian flyweight says.

“When I arrived in Omaha, I decided to do something special, and it’s a good thing I did because we were both wearing something special. I like latex and leather, and wanted something sexy at the same time. I wear it often in my everyday life.”

Although Masson-Wong is happy with the attention she garnered from her wardrobe choice, she knew her primary objective in Nebraska was to beat Starling, a former BKFC title challenger, and up her BKFC record to 2-1.

“I feel really good,” she says when asked about her performance on fight night. “I’ve been working really hard since my last fight. There was no choice but to leave with the victory. My preparation was very specific to her, and every aspect of my training camp was on point, and I showed it last Friday.”

When the BKFC’s updated rankings were released Wednesday, the previously unranked Masson-Wong earned the No. 3 contender spot in her division. By the end of 2023, she wants a shot at the BKFC World Female Flyweight Championship, which is currently held by Christine “Misfit” Ferea (7-1).

“My goal with BKFC is to go as far as I can in this sport because I really love bare knuckle fighting. My place is here, so for sure I want the belt eventually,” she says.

“I see BKFC as a giant springboard for my future because I can be a really good ambassador for the promotion. Everything with BKFC fits my personality – the intensity, the blood, the show aspect. There is nothing conventional with this sport, and that’s what I love. We can express who we are.”
