The fastest way from Point A to Point B is a straight line – that’s why Blake LaCaze’s favorite punch is his jab.
At 6-foot-7, the towering Monroe, LA product is the owner of one of the sharpest jabs in BKFC’s stacked middleweight division. He says it’s going to play a big role in his upcoming fight against Donald Sanchez (0-1) at BKFC 48 on Aug. 11 in Albuquerque, NM, LIVE on The BKFC App.
“The most likely outcome for this fight is me taking Donald Sanchez to jab city and just introducing him to the end of my fist,” he says.
“I base everything I do off my jab – I set every punch up off of my jab. I’ve stopped people before with just a single jab. You saw it in the Brett Williams fight, where I just picked him apart with my left hand.”
What is the secret behind a jab?
“It’s just the technique that you perfect over the years,” he says. “It doesn’t come over a couple weeks or one training camp. I’m 15 years into fighting – this is my 93rd sanctioned fight – so it just takes time and repetition.”
LaCaze plans on jabbing his way to the top of BKFC’s bustling middleweight division.
“A year from today, I want to be in the Top 5 and in the conversation for a title shot,” he says. “I want to be back at the top of the division.”
