Miami, FL (August 24, 2023) Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), The World’s Fastest Growing Combat Sports Promotion, was the Talk of the Combat Sports World on Thursday night with their launch of their highly anticipated BKFC Prospect Series from the Miami-Dade Fairgrounds and broadcast globally on the BKFC App.

Headlining the exciting night of action in a women’s flyweight clash, Rosa Rodriguez won her BKFC debut over five rounds against Cristina Crist, (0-1). Utilizing her boxing skills which has earned her a sparkling record of 13-0, Rodriguez scored throughout the fight behind a strong jab against the valiant but outgunned Crist. Scores at the end of the fight were 50-44, 50-45 and 49-43.

Co-featured in the heavyweight division, Leonardo Perdomo wasted no time attacking Ryan Shough using a full arsenal of power shots to score two quick knockdowns. The fight was called after Shough’s second trip to the canvas earning Perdomo the knockout victory at :59 of the opening stanza. Perdomo improved to 2-0 with the win while Shough moved to 1-1.

Fighting in the light heavyweight division, Drew Nolan, (1-1), overcame a first-round knockdown to mount an offensive attack in round two against Markus Suarez, (0-1). Battering the taller Suarez, the aggressive Nolan would be declared the TKO winner when the ringside physician declared Suarez was unable to continue due to a badly cut right eye. Time of the stoppage was 1:22.

In the light heavyweight division, the fight between Fred Pierce, (2-4) and Sean Hotusing, (0-1), was stopped at 1:31 of round two. Hotusing dropped Pierce with a right hand but would also punch him while he was on the canvas causing the referee to halt the fight with Pierce being declared the winner by disqualification due to the illegal strike.

With former boxing world champion Glen Johnson in his corner, Dameko Labon, (1-0), impressively scored a quick knockout of Justin Watson, (0-1), in their bantamweight fight. Utilizing a fast combination to drop the stunned Watson, Labon was declared the winner at :21 of the first round.

Opening the event, talented welterweights Leondro Torres, (1-0), and Harry Cruz, (0-1), set a very fast pace from the opening bell with a wealth of punches landing from odd angles for each fighter. In the second round Torres was able to take control, aggressively landing the heavier punches throughout. With Cruz bleeding badly, the ringside physician called a stop to the fight at 1:29 of round three.

Fighters awarded BKFC contracts on Thursday night included Rosa Rodriguez, Leonardo Perdomo, Drew Nolan, Dameko Labon  along with Leondro Torres and Harry Cruz.

About Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC)

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) is the first promotion allowed to hold a legal, sanctioned, and regulated bare knuckle event in the United States since 1889. Based in Philadelphia, and headed by President and former professional boxer David Feldman, BKFC is dedicated to preserving the historical legacy of bare knuckle fighting, while utilizing a specifically created rule set that emphasizes fighter safety. BKFC holds all of its bouts in a revolutionary circular four-rope ring, designed to encourage fast-paced and exciting bouts. The patented BKFC “Squared Circle” contains scratch lines, based on the Broughton Rules which governed bare knuckle fighting in the 19th century, and which requires fighters to “Toe the Line”: start every round face to face, and just inches apart.

In BKFC, only those fighters who are established professionals in boxing, MMA, kickboxing, or Muay Thai are allowed to compete. The referees and judges are required to have extensive professional combat sports experience. All fights are held under the auspices and control of an Athletic Commission. Unlike other fighting organizations and combat sports internationally which claim to be “bare knuckle”, but require wraps, tape, and gauze; BKFC is true to its word as fighters are not allowed to wrap their hands to within one inch of the knuckle. This makes BKFC unquestionably the truest form of bare knuckle fighting. BKFC is dedicated to not just creating the safest, most exciting, and highest-level bare-knuckle fighting organization in the world, it’s also leading the way for a new fully recognized professional combat sport. BKFC is truly the sport of the future, which fully respects its remarkable past.
