Fighting out of Memphis, Tennessee, Joshua Whiteside grew up playing a lot of sports but fell in love with basketball early on. He focused on academics and basketball as a kid throughout high school and landed an academic scholarship to get himself into Alcorn State University. A lot of fighters grew up fighting in the streets and training fairly early in life, but Whiteside only got into training at age 24 to lose weight and stay in shape. In his debut, he made short work of Isaiah Williams.

With a counter-punching boxing heavy style, Whiteside looks to end the fight early but is more than capable of going 10 hard minutes with excellent cardio. Outside of fighting he runs marathons and loves competitive running. He fights not only for himself but for his young daughter Zoe.

In his off time and when he’s not doing physical activities, Whiteside loves gaming and relaxing with his kid. He holds a bachelors in health and physical education and a masters in sports administration. As a kid he enjoyed watching Chuck Liddell and Floyd Mayweather fight and more recently Shakur Stevenson.
