James DeGale is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2009 to 2019. He held the IBF super-middleweight title twice between 2015 and 2018, and regionally the European and British super-middleweight titles between 2010 and 2012.
In the 2008 Olympics DeGale represented England as an amateur, winning a gold medal in the middleweight division. Before that, he won silver at the 2007 and 2008 EU Championships, and bronze at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. By later becoming IBF champion, he became the first British boxer in history to win both an Olympic gold medal and a professional world title.
DeGale began boxing at age 10. He fights mostly from southpaw but is a switch stance hitter. As mentioned we haven’t seen him in competition since 2019 but at the age of 39 when he will toe the line for the first time, he’s got plenty left in the tank to compete at the highest level of bare-knuckle fighting.
*James DeGale debuts against another dangerous striker in Matt Floyd. The two high level boxers lock horns on September 27, 2025 in the AO Arena in Manchester, England.
