Skyler Mauller lived up to his surname in his lightning-fast BKFC premiere.
On Friday at BKFC 75, the heavy-handed Crooksville, OH product needed just 43 seconds to tear through Bryant McClain in their middleweight matchup at the sold-out Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, NM.
Fighting for BKFC is a dream come true for Mauller, who has six professional MMA bouts and a pair of pro gloved boxing matchups on his resume, as well as a few dozen amateur fights.
“I would’ve signed with BKFC before I even fought as an amateur if I would’ve had the opportunity to do so. Fighting bare knuckle professionally has been a dream of mine since I was a kid, watching bare knuckle fights from overseas and of course BKFC more recently,” Mauller says.
“Fisticuffs as a kid was always a fun adrenaline rush. So why not do it professionally?”
Mauller’s BKFC debut lasted less than a minute, but it certainly lived up to his lofty expectations.
“If anything it was even better than I thought it would be,” he offers. “I didn’t know it at the time, but I was grinning from ear to ear throughout the fight and that was just my natural reaction.”
It would be an understatement to say that Mauller is hoping for a quick turnaround in the BKFC Squared Circle.
“I’d fight next weekend if they let me,” he says with a smile.
“I want to make a name for myself with BKFC.”
