"Rambo" Russo cruises to 2-0 at BKFC 49

September 1, 2023

Matt “Rambo” Russo is quickly establishing himself as a prospect to watch on the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship roster.

At BKFC 49 in Miami, he improved to 2-0 under the BKFC banner with a 76-second KO over Jaymes Hyder. That followed his Squared Circle debut in December, when he burst onto the scene with a first-round stoppage victory over Jakobi Lowry at BKFC 34.

“Rambo” seems happy with his early success, but he isn’t surprised – and the former amateur boxing standout says he’s just getting warmed up.

“I believe I can become one of the biggest names in bare knuckle, and I want to be one of the biggest names in bare knuckle – that’s my goal,” Russo says.

“I’m trying to be the best at what I do.”

Russo’s motivation isn’t glitz or glamor – it’s gratitude.

“At this stage of my life, all I want to do is do better for my kids, do better for everyone who’s supported me, and do better for myself,” the 29-year-old Broward County, FL fighter.

“When the pandemic started, I thought my fighting career was over. I didn’t think none of this was possible, but I’m living my dreams with BKFC.”
