Sometimes you’re the hammer; sometimes you’re the nail.

After hammering his way to a 4-0 start with BKFC, Mike “The Marine” Richman finally tasted defeat in the Squared Circle in his most recent fight, falling to Lorenzo Hunt via first-round stoppage at KnuckleMania 3 in February.

“Anything can happen in this sport,” Richman says in retrospect. “When you’ve got two of the highest-level guys in the game going at it, one moment you might have it, and the next moment you don’t. That’s just part of the game.”

Richman makes his hotly anticipated return to the Squared Circle in the Main Event of BKFC 47 on July 14 in Lakeland, FL. He challenges David “Redneck” Mundell (6-1, 4 KOs) for Mundell’s BKFC World Middleweight Championship, LIVE on The BKFC App.

All losses wear on a fighter, the 38-year-old Rosemount, MN product says, but he’s put his emotions aside for this training camp.

“It’s just business as usual. It’s always business as usual for me,” he says. “Training camp went really well. I feel extremely fast, explosive, powerful. I’m feeling lighter again – I feel great.”

All four of Richman’s BKFC victories have come by stoppage. He predicts that trend will continue against the heavy-handed Mundell and he’ll leave Florida with another credential on his impressive combat resume. But “The Marine” insists he’s never been all that interested in belts.

“It’s just another belt, but it does signify that I’m the best in the world at 175 pounds," Richman says. "It’ll be great to be considered the champ, but outside of that it’s just a (expletive) belt.”
