Louie Lopez answers when opportunity knocks.

So when he got the call earlier this week to return to the Squared Circle on Saturday against UFC vet Mike Trizano at BKFC 61, the former BKFC World Featherweight Championship challenger was more than happy to sign on the dotted line and start packing his bags for Uncasville, CT.

Despite his nickname, “El Loco” Lopez carefully weighs all of his options when it comes to his career. He prides himself on always being ready to fight, and this time the decision to jump in on short notice was an easy choice to make.

“I did a bit of research and I saw that the opponent they were offering me has a lot of credentials in martial arts. I’m in shape, so that’s what sold it – I want this type of high-level opponent,” he says.

The 32-year-old Great Falls, MT product sees several advantages in taking a short-notice fight.

“Eight weeks is a long time to go through the ups and downs of training camp. This is happening so fast, I’m just jumping in there and doing my thing,” he says.

“He’s going to have to change up his game plan a lot to fight a guy like me, and I don’t think he’s going to have enough time to do that.”

Lopez’s fight night prediction is simple – he’s leaving the legendary Mohegan Sun with a fourth victory on his BKFC resume.

“I see it either going the distance, or me winning it in the second round by TKO,” he says. “If I don’t end it in the second round, I can easily see this going all five rounds because my opponent is very technical.

“We could go all the way, or second-round TKO if I get him where I want him.”
