Lorenzo Hunt goes scorched Earth on "exposed" Mike Richman after wild BKFC 31 Main Event

Lorenzo Hunt has some thoughts about Saturday’s BKFC 31 Main Event.

In the final fight of the night in Denver, of course, Mike Richman defeated Isaac Doolittle to lay claim to the BKFC Interim World Light-Heayweight Championship.

Hunt, the reigning BKFC World Light-Heavyweight Champion and BKFC World Cruiserweight Champion, was more impressed by Doolittle in defeat than Richman's victory, although the hard-hitting Minnesota fighter did take home the belt, setting up a unification bout with Hunt in 2023.

“First of all, congratulations to BKFC for another successful show and breaking ground for the first time in the state of Colorado,” Hunt begins.

“My hat is off to Doolittle. He was a big underdog, and everyone thought it would be a lot easier for Richman to win the interim title, especially considering all the barking and pounding of his chest.

“I think it was disrespectful and a little silly of him to come to 185, thinking he would dominate the world champ. Doolittle busted him up and rocked him with a glancing shot, and rocked him again. Doolittle isn’t a finisher – we know that. We also know who the best finisher is in BKFC. It’s me.”

Hunt calls Richman’s interim title “a trinket of a paper belt,” and says his performance in Denver hurt his stock, rather than raise it.

“His limited offense was exposed, his limited defense was exposed, his chin was exposed,” Hunt says. “He did show a bit of his tenacity and survivability, but if you look between the second and third rounds, he was totally defeated.”

Hunt says he isn’t worried about his potential unification bout with Richman.

“He’s got the interim title, but I don’t think he wants it anymore,” Hunt says. “I have a size advantage, the speed advantage. I’m the more technical fighter. It’s a bad fight for Mike Richman. Possibly a retirement fight for Mike Richman.”
