John “The Magician” Dodson has one word for his BKFC debut.
“Amazing. My first BKFC experience was amazing,” Dodson said after his first-round KO over Ryan Benoit in the BKFC 28 Co-Main Event on Saturday in Albuquerque on the BKFC app.
“I’m blessed with the fact that I got to fight in my hometown, and fight on the same card as my brother (Eric, who also won by KO). Both of those things are just so amazing. Sharing the spotlight together was a dream come true.”
Eric needed just 23 seconds to defeat Nick Villar in their matchup. John needed 17 ticks more, beating Benoit in 40 seconds.
John is a two-time challenger for the UFC flyweight title. He believes his spectacular debut Saturday paves the way for a shot at the vacant BKFC World Flyweight Championship.
“I know I’ve done enough to earn a title shot,” Dodson said.
“Without a doubt, I’m the No. 1 flyweight in the world when it comes to bare knuckle fighting. There are a lot of people out there running their mouths, saying they can beat me. Well, I want them to step up and prove it.”
