Eric Dodson overcomes 5 knockdowns in latest thrilling BKFC victory

Eric Dodson earned his fourth victory at BKFC Fight Night: Albuquerque, but it didn’t come easily.
Dodson had to pick himself up off the canvas five times — and drop his opponent Van Vo three times — before eventually scoring the third-round, standing-TKO victory in their electric featherweight battle at the sold-out Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque, NM, LIVE globally on The BKFC App.
“I didn’t think I’d get dropped like that,” the good-natured Dodson says with a laugh. “That definitely shifted the momentum of the fight, but I just had to keep my composure, stick to the game plan, and everything worked out.”
All of Dodson’s three previous victories came in the first round — a stark contrast to his action-packed scrap in Albuquerque, which featured a total of eight knockdowns. But which outcome is preferable?
“Honestly, first-round knockouts feel a little incomplete sometimes, but I know I was in a fight this time,” he says, laughing. “I’m still feeling it today, so I’ll take the first-round knockout.”
The battle-tested Dodson is eager to return to the Squared Circle. If all goes according to his plan, he’ll soon have a BKFC World Championship belt around his waist, like his older brother, BKFC World Men’s Flyweight Champion John “The Magician” Dodson.
“We’re going to get back with the team and we’re going to get back to work on new game plans and strategies that will keep me moving forward,” he says.
“Every time we go out there, we see things that work right and we see things that didn’t go so well,” he adds. “We’re always revising and retooling, after the losses and even after the wins, and we’re always moving forward.”
