David Mundell believes his dominance in the BKFC 75 Main Event cemented his status as the top dog in bare knuckle fighting history.
“I don’t think there’s anybody close to me right now,” Mundell says after his one-sided unanimous decision over Donald Sanchez on Friday at the sold-out Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, NM.
The red-hot Oldsmar, FL product is now 10-1 on the strength of nine straight wins. He has now successfully defended his BKFC World Middleweight Title four times, including three by finish. He was hunting for his sixth straight stoppage in the Squared Circle against Sanchez.
“I’ve done way more than anyone else that I can think of in terms of putting together dominant wins at the highest level — knocking people out and adding to my highlight reel,” he adds.
“I belong at the top.”
Mundell would like to be BKFC’s most active World Champion, ideally defending his throne three times per year. For the time being, he has only one name on his hit list — undefeated BKFC King of Violence “Platinum” Mike Perry (5-0).
Mundell’s historic body of work speaks for itself, but most combat sports fans around the world would agree that a victory over the iconic Perry would undoubtedly be a career highlight.
“For whatever reason, people think Mike is the best, but he’s really not,” Mundell says with a laugh. “He’s one of the easiest paychecks out there.”
