Darrick Gates fights for the love of violence

Darrick “The Buck” Gates isn’t worried about his BKFC record.

“I don’t fight for a perfect record – I fight for the love of violence and the love of punching people in the face,” the Eagle, ID fighter says.

Gates is 1-4, 1 NC under the BKFC banner. It’s not the kind of record that will put you in title contention, but Gates has never stepped in the Squared Circle to chase accolades.

“If I wanted a perfect record, I’d be cherry picking my fights to get the easiest possible matchup. But I say yes to everyone. I don’t care who it is, where it is, or really even what weight it is,” he says.

“It’d be nice to have a winning record, sure, but I just fight for the love of the violence.”

Gates says that’s exactly what makes him a perfect fit for BKFC, the world’s fastest growing combat sports promotion.

“My willingness to just always show up, throw punches and put on a show is why BKFC keeps bringing me back,” he says.

“BKFC needs fighters who leave it all on the line, and that’s what I bring to the table.”

Gates is back in action at BKFC 57 on Feb. 2 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL, LIVE on The BKFC App. He’s looking to rack up his second stoppage victory in the Squared Circle as he takes on Edgard Plazaola (1-0) in featherweight action.

Gates has been grinding hard in training, and hopes his hard work helps fuel another exciting performance in the Squared Circle.

“I think I’m going to end it in the third round,” he says. “I plan on using my ‘Freddy Krueger’ knuckle and cutting the (expletive) out of this dude.”
