Bryan “El Gallo” Duran is in uncharted territory.

At BKFC 49 in Miami on Friday, the 28-year-old featherweight became the first fighter in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship history to begin his career with five straight victories by stoppage.

“On Saturday night I had a moment where I realized that if you make a decision in life, and go after it with everything you’ve got, and believe in it with total certainty, you can get whatever you want in life,” says Duran, who needed just 48 seconds to take out Dakota Highpine in Duran's hometown of Miami.

“Every day I’m learning that it’s literally mind over matter. It feels good. This company is growing, and I’m growing right alongside with it. It’s pretty dope, man.”

Duran’s life has changed a lot since his BKFC debut in April of 2022. He says his involvement in the sport has changed him.

“BKFC for me wasn’t about the bright lights or the attention; it was about making me a better person. To grow in this sport, I had to be more disciplined, I had to react to things differently,” he says.

“Being in this sport has made me a better person.”

Duran isn’t done making history. He says he could beat current BKFC World Featherweight Champion Kai Stewart (4-0) with “(his) eyes closed.”

“This is everything I dreamed about, and I have no doubt it’s going to continue like this,” he says. “When I retire, it’s going to be because that’s my decision – it’s not going to be because somebody beat me.”

“I’d have to decide to not be undefeated, and that’s never going to happen (laughs).”
