Ben Rothwell knows how to make a first impression.
In his highly anticipated BKFC debut on Saturday, he needed just 19 seconds to take out Bobo O’Bannon by TKO in their heavyweight matchup at BKFC 30 in Monroe, LA, LIVE on the BKFC app.
Rothwell, a 17-time UFC vet, has a ton of fights under his belt. Out of his 53 pro MMA bouts, only a couple have ended faster than his BKFC debut.
“That’s me at my best, man – that’s the way I can fight.”
Rothwell expected his bout with O'Bannon to end in the first round, but he trained for five tough rounds. He’s happy with his performance, and now he’s set on moving up the rankings.
He has a few names in mind.
“As far as names go, ‘Big’ Frank Tate’s manager – man, he’s a mouthy clown. Talking all sorts of trash for Frank. Fine, he can be next. I’m taking that as a callout, just like Bobo," Rothwell said.
“The other guy that’s pretty mouthy – Mick Terrill, from London. He says he’s the best heavyweight in the organization and deserves a title shot. He can fight me next.”
Regardless of what's next, Rothwell’s goal is clear for the next 12 months – earn a shot at the BKFC World Heavyweight Championship, take the belt, and start defending his throne.
“I want everybody to know that I’m going to take BKFC to the stratosphere.”
