Matt “Rambo” Russo is quickly evolving from prospect to title contender in the stacked BKFC flyweight division.

At BKFC 57 on Feb. 2 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL, the unbeaten Broward County, FL product looks to improve to 3-0 with a third straight, first-round finish against Justin Street, LIVE on The BKFC App.

Russo respects his opponent at BKFC 57. Street’s combat resume includes 11 professional MMA fights and four wins by KO. But Russo has big plans for the rest of 2024. He’s hoping to kick the year off on a high note as he prepares to test his skills against the best of the best in BKFC’s fully loaded 125-pound weight class.

“After this fight, I only want to fight opponents in the Top 5 – only guys who are ranked ahead of me, so I can work my way towards the BKFC World Flyweight Championship,” Russo says.

“No disrespect to my opponent because I'm sure he's coming to fight, but after this I only want to fight the established top contenders of the division.”

Yes, Russo is enjoying the process and the journey, but his ultimate goal is BKFC gold – and lots of it.

“Winning the world title means everything – everything. I’ve been boxing for nine years and fighting all my life. I’ve been through a lot of (expletive) that people have no idea about. Fighting for BKFC has taken me to the next level in life, and winning the BKFC World Flyweight Championship is going to take me to the next level after that,” Russo says.

“Then I’ll move up to 135 and hold two belts at the same time, then move up to 145 and hold three belts at the same time. I only want to go up; this is all just a start to a new beginning.”
