David Mundell eager to build on breakout 2023 BKFC campaign

It’s hard to overstate how big 2023 has been for David Mundell.

Mundell entered the year as the newly crowned BKFC World Middleweight Champion after winning the belt with a KO over the champ Francesco Ricchi at BKFC 34 last December. He defended his title for the first time with a KO over former BKFC champ Mike Richman in the Main Event of BKFC 47, and defended it again with a TKO over the previously unbeaten Doug Coltrane in the Main Event of BKFC 53.

“I think I gained a lot of eyes on me, and people are starting to realize what I’m capable of,” the 32-year-old Oldsmar, FL product says. “But for as big as 2023 has been, I think 2024 is going to be (expletive) amazing.”

After back-to-back title defenses, Mundell has firmly established himself atop the stacked BKFC middleweight division – but he doesn’t plan on easing up any time soon.

“We’re just going to keep putting the work in,” he says. “I’m just going to keep grinding and proving people wrong until there’s no doubters left and we’re just sitting on top.”

Mundell has his sights set on the undefeated “Platinum” Mike Perry, the highest-profile fighter on the BKFC roster and the newly crowned BKFC King of Violence Champion. He says the outcome for that must-see fight is simple.

“It’s ending in a KO,” he says. “I’m putting him smooth out.”
