Brenden “The Voodoo Child” Meneses is a BKFC Featherweight contender fighting out of North Richland Hills, Texas. A lifelong martial artist, Meneses began training at just 12 years old and developed an early obsession with technique, timing, and strategy after finding himself as one of the smallest students in an adult martial arts class. His journey has taken him through many practices including Muay Thai, boxing, MMA and many others under coaches connected to the lineages of Bruce Lee, Dan Inosanto, Gene LeBell, and Larry Hartsell. He competed in grappling, kickboxing, and MMA before ultimately finding his home in the BKFC.
A self-described martial artist first and fighter second, Meneses is known for his cerebral approach to combat. He believes timing, rhythm, footwork, distance management, and mental discipline are what separate great fighters from good ones. The transition to BKFC felt natural for the Texas native, whose striking-heavy style thrives in a sport that rewards precision, composure and power. His nickname, “The Voodoo Child,” was inspired by the Jimi Hendrix song and reflects the flow state he seeks during competition, where instinct, preparation, and artistry come together.
Outside the ring, Meneses serves as the Head Striking Coach at Fitness Fight Factory, where he coaches Muay Thai, boxing, and kickboxing while helping develop the next generation of amateur and professional fighters. Martial arts is more than a profession for him—it's a lifelong pursuit that shapes every aspect of his life. He spends his days training, teaching, studying film, and refining his philosophies of combat and performance.
Family remains at the center of everything he does. Meneses is married to his wife, Nyranee, and together they are raising three daughters: Noel, Ella, and Nyla. Away from the gym, he enjoys skateboarding, camping, the outdoors, and studying ancient history, philosophy, mythology, and world cultures. Having once dropped out of high school to pursue martial arts full-time, Meneses has never followed the conventional path. His goal is to become a world champion, leave a lasting legacy as both a competitor and coach, and show that martial arts is ultimately about discipline, self-discovery, and personal growth.
